How It Works

There are two types of location technology: one based on the mobile phone GSM network; the other on the satellite-based GPS network.

ON THE MAP BY MOBILE PHONE (GSM, 3G (NextG))

BlackBox Control’s Phone Locator product can locate a phone or phone module on the phone network itself. All this requires is personnel with mobile phones on the Telstra network and a computer with internet access.

We connect your team’s mobile phones to our locating technology. Your entire team can then be typically pinpointed to within 300m on detailed, onscreen maps. These maps can be accessed by your management team through a secure website.

BlackBox Location Assist Technologies are simple to use and provide a powerful tool in helping to identify areas of business process improvement. Data that could be captured might include travel times, appointment duration, effective vehicle routes, equipment maintenance visits and much, much more.

ON THE MAP THROUGH SATELLITE (GPS)

All businesses have a compelling ongoing need for quality information on the efficiency and effectiveness of their operations. BlackBox Control’s GPS-based Vehicle Tracking provides a reliable solution.

A BlackBox Recorder Tracking Unit provides the communication link that establishes a vehicle’s location via GPS. The BlackBox Recorder can be extensively customised to meet the reporting needs of most customers. These requirements could range from point-of-delivery (POD) confirmation to engine management data – even a distress feature for improved employee security.

Information from BlackBox Recorders is transmitted to head office administrators where software-driven display maps allow real time viewing of vehicle operations. Black Box Control can provide reports as frequently as every 10 seconds, though a one-minute polling rate is more typical.

BLACKBOX CONTROL ARCHITECTURE

1. The BlackBox Control Enterprise Server. This provides the link between the BlackBox Recorders, client applications and wireless networks. Behind the main servers are specific servers that support email, messaging and applications.

2. Security. Protection against unauthorised access.

3. Internet. Vehicle location is identified by GPS data from the BlackBox Recorder and all information is relayed to the BlackBox Control Centre software package on site over the internet.

4. BlackBox Recorder and GPS. The BlackBox Recorder provides operational data, either manually entered or remotely reported.
